Post Test Review

Looking at the test results, we believed that the generator would work more efficient if it is used on 4WD vehicle that drive on rough terrain. It is because the driving on rough terrain would create more and continuous suspension movements. Hence, more voltage output would be generated.

Due to limitation in acquiring the test vehicle and modification, the test on 4WD vehicle was not materialize. It is recommended to include test on 4WD vehicle in future study.

Results and Findings

We are now analyzing those data collected during the test. It seems like the voltage and current generated from the device is too small and insufficient to use as a charging source. Considering the experiment was carried out on a small scale generator, the result is positive and have proof that the idea is working and might produce the higher output with the bigger scale of generator.

They are also findings that we have concluded from the test results;

  • The generator does not generate a constant and continuous voltage on motorway driving condition due to good road profile on motorway.
  • The higher voltage output is required from the generator in order to produce higher charging voltage up to required battery voltage.
  • The higher current output is found as a significant criteria for generator, since the higher current would provide a faster charging time for the higher capacity of energy storage.
